If you’ve decided to move to Australia, then it’s likely because you find some aspect of living here more appealing than your current home. For some, it’s the famous Aussie lifestyle. For others, it’s the opportunity to earn a better income. For many, simply the challenge of making it in another country is enough to get them to pack their bags.
Everyone is motivated by different things. What gets me out of bed in the morning might, and likely won’t, be the same for you. The thing we all have in common? The desire to thrive. And maximise every experience we have.
A huge contributing factor to an amazing working holiday experience in Australia is work. With an abundance of opportunities and employers to work for, choosing the right one is crucial. Below are 5 principles that enable me not just to survive, but to thrive.

1. Try Something New
It’s not uncommon for people travelling to Australia to try something completely new. Pencil-pushers become titan-tradies; bar & wait staff turn into superstar salespeople. Don’t be afraid to dive into a new career. You might just surprise yourself with what you’re capable of.

2. Live Within Your Means
Australia has some of the highest-paying hourly rates in the world. However, most people, when they earn more money, spend more money. Don’t fall into that trap. If your goal is to save, control your spending, budget when travelling, and you’ll thrive in Australia’s workplace.
3. Think Long-Term
If, after a few months, you fall in love with this amazing country, you’re going to have to find a way to stay. Australia is a notoriously hard place to become a permanent resident in. But with the right planning and preparation, it’s very much achievable. Get in touch with our official partner, True Blue Migration Services, for the best help and support.

4. Build Your Network
One of the biggest advantages to working in a country that’s so rife with tourism is that you’re bound to meet people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Connect with as many people as you can, and you’ll almost never be stuck for support. Relationships matter.

5. Work Hard
There’s no substitute for hard work. Period. I’m not saying you should sign yourself up for every hour of overtime that’s offered to you. What I am saying, is that when you’re at work, give your best effort. There are so many opportunities for those who are prepared to work hard.
